Core Stat Boosting Traits Guide

Core Traits Header Image - Remnant From the Ashes

This guide covers the Traits which primarily affect your Character’s base stats in “Remnant: From the Ashes” like Health and Stamina. Traits are passive bonuses your character has that can be leveled up, increasing the strength of the effect up to their max level of 20. These bonuses can grant a variety of buffing effects that make your character more powerful and increase their abilities.

In this guide, I will cover the Traits which specifically affect the ‘Core’ base stats of your character like Health, Stamina and Movement Speed, that don’t directly help with damage reduction, dealing or mod usage.

Core Stat Traits By Importance

Note: Traits are listed in terms of my own analysis of their overall importance and impact, starting with the best Trait to max out first (Vigor) and ending with the least important or impactful (Footwork). If you disagree with me or have a reason why this order should be changed, I would love to hear your opinions in the comments section below!

The Vigor passive trait at level 20, in the video game Remnant: From the Ashes.

Increases Health Stat

Vigor takes the top spot priority wise simply because HP is the core stat to your survival. Everything that provides some form of damage reduction is basically increasing your effective HP pool by using percent modifiers, so having up to a 50% increase on that base amount, is pretty significant in the long run.

The Endurance passive trait at level 20, in the video game Remnant: From the Ashes.

Increases Stamina Stat

After health, Stamina is your most critical stat, as it provides the ability to dodge and run more often and for longer periods in a row. Stamina only regenerates when not being actively used, after a short bit of downtime, so having a larger pool means a few extra rolls to get you out of a sticky situation. Being able to run longer also has a significant benefit in your ability to clear content faster once you start getting to the point of farming areas.

The World Walker passive trait at level 20, in the video game Remnant: From the Ashes.

Reduces Stamina cost when sprinting and evading.

World Walker is a great addition to Endurance, drawing out the use of your base stamina pool and allowing you more movement without waiting for a regen. I would say there is definitely some room for preference between Recovery and World Walker though, depending on whether you are ranged or melee focused, with ranged focused players perhaps preferring to get Recovery first.

The Recovery passive trait at level 20, in the video game Remnant: From the Ashes.

Increases Stamina Regen rate.

Recovery is third to Endurance and World Walker because of the fact that Stamina only regenerates when you aren’t running or dodging, so while it keeps you able to maintain lots of movement during protracted fights, you still need the base pool first to get you through the more intense moments when you cant afford the down time to regen.

The Swiftness passive trait at level 20, in the video game Remnant: From the Ashes.

Increases Movement Speed.

Swiftness is a great trait for clearing content faster and can even help with survival by allowing you to dodge some attacks by just running away from them faster, but the other traits before it all benefit your ability to dodge more, and thus are higher on the priority list because dodging tends to do more for your survival. Swiftness takes a bit of progression to unlock, so it’s also likely to be found much later for most players than the traits listed before it.

The Footwork passive trait at level 20, in the video game Remnant: From the Ashes.

Increase Movement Speed while Aiming.

Footwork is a handy skill for ranged players, especially for those like myself who have a tendency to get a bit too laser focused when trying to gun down attacking enemies before they hit you. Once you have Swiftness maxed out, Footwork will allow you to be able to move just fast enough that you can dodge many ranged attacks and even some melee ones, without having to drop your aim. This is more of a convenience benefit to some degree though, as it isn’t powerful enough to really save you, just soften the punishment from occasional laziness.

The Climber passive trait at level 20, in the video game Remnant: From the Ashes.

Increases vaulting speed.

Climber is one of the newest skills and also definitely one of the least useful in it’s category, since it just increases the speed at which you vault over obstacles like railings or window sills. You definitely want to put this on the bottom of your priorities, as there are a ton of more useful traits throughout the various categories. The one nice thing is it’s pretty easy to unlock.
